Due to an appointment, I missed seeing this game. But it was yet another non-televised affair, so no one except those in attendance were able to see it. The next televised game in on Sunday, which reminds me of the Spring Training television schedule during the old WGN days.
Here are the overreactions:
- Jaxon Wiggins appears to have some work to do if he wants to be MLB ready. That kind of outing (1.1 IP, 6 H, 5 ER) may be one of the reasons Keith Law left him out of the top-100 prospects. He did get 3 strikeouts, so that’s nice.
- It was a big day for the 4th outfield race, as the law firm of Carlson, McCormick and Dean patrolled the outfield. They can catch fly balls, and help you if you’re injured in an accident. Here’s the updated 4th-OF-o-Meter:
| Player | PA | HR | Runs | RBI | OPS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dylan Carlson | 11 | 0 | 1 | 2 | 1.261 |
| Chas McCormick | 14 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 0.643 |
| Justin Dean | 15 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0.467 |
| Kevin Alcantara | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | N/A |
| Michael Conforto | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | N/A |
Dylan Carlson is still leading the pack, with two more hits. And Michael Conforto officially signed, so we should see him in a game soon. Meanwhile:
- Three perfect inning from Michael Boyd. Apparently, his arm angle in slightly higher, which is one of those things spring training really gives you the opportunity to overanalyze
- I’m guessing someone else noticed this, but it made me laugh:
